The Talent Desk / How it works

A clear path.
A considered decision.

Understand what to expect when you apply through The Talent Desk. Individual vacancies will explain any additional assessments specific to the role.

From application to appointment

  1. Application

Tell us about your experience, availability and suitability for the role. Some vacancies may include a few role-specific questions to help us understand how you approach the work.

  2. Shortlisting

Applications are reviewed against the requirements of the vacancy. Candidates whose experience and responses most closely match the role will be invited to the next stage.

  3. Structured interview

Shortlisted candidates take part in a structured interview focused on relevant experience, judgment, working style and practical situations they may encounter in the role.

  4. Practical assessment

Some roles require a practical assessment designed around the work itself.

For example, a driver may complete an on-road assessment, an administrative candidate may complete a short organisation or document-handling task, while a customer-service candidate may be given a realistic client scenario.

The individual vacancy will tell you whether a practical assessment forms part of the process.

  5. References & checks

For candidates progressing to the final stages, we may verify information relevant to the appointment. Depending on the role, this may include employment history, professional references, licences, qualifications or other appropriate documentation.

We will tell you what is required before any checks are carried out.

  6. Offer & appointment

The preferred candidate may receive an offer subject to satisfactory completion of any outstanding checks and agreement on the employment terms.

The employer will confirm the final terms of employment, including remuneration, start date, working arrangements and any applicable probation period.
